In the middle of Haná, between Olomouc and Tovačov, is situated the small community of Dub nad Moravou with its architectural high point - St. Mary’s Cathedral. The first mention of the community of Věrovany is from the year 1131, in a document of the Olomouc archbishop Zídek. The name Věrovany takes its origins from some kinds of vortices, probably whirlpools. Mineral water springs are indeed abundant in Věrovany; in fact baths were also built, of which the first mention dates from the year 1502. . |

In this cathedral there worked for fifty years as an organist Mr. Jan Uhlíř, who established the Věrovanka brass band.
This rich man, a talented musician, came from Stupava, near Buchlovice. After his marriage, he moved to Nenakonice, near Dub nad Moravou, where he also taught music. Music completely fills his life. His great wish was the establishing of a brass band, which would give pleasure and sincere musical enthusiasm. And it all happened. Verovanka, and also a woodwind set, originated with his young scholars in the year 1991. The musical atmosphere of his family led to the fact that his son Jiří Uhlíř helps him lead the band and to compose music; he had a great influence on the quality of the performances. Nowadays the youngest member of the family, Jiří Uhlíř, is the chief initiator and bandmaster. The Věrovanka brass band has seventeen members, with three singers. The ensemble is very young but nevertheless artistically and professionally mature.
That's the reason, why it's started to be popular. Věrovanka is permanet guest of bath, promenades Christmas concerts, balls and celebrations in Moravia.Verovanka became also organizer of ethnical and wood-wind music festivals named " Olomocké Kvítek", which with yearly at the turn of May and June action in the area of Flora Olomouc, where band regularly
guide its appearance and other interesting actions.Its musical inspiration find not only in traditions of Hana , but also in Czech and Moravian traditional songs. It shows band's first CD recording with title " Welcome in Hane". Presentation of brass band doesn't end only in region Moravia, it shows invitations on festivals in France and Italy, where make performances with majorettes.
